Camino De Salud Dental Clinic

UNM Dental Services offers the highest level of care and advanced dental techniques in the greater Albuquerque area. Being the only Dental Residency program in New Mexico, affords our staff to provide excellent dental care in a state of the art facility.

UNM Dental Services' Faculty Practice and Residency Clinic dentist’s practice side-by-side and offer a combined 17 practitioners. The Residency Clinic is staffed by recent Dental School graduates who have chosen to gain advanced training, rather than immediately enter private practice. The Residents who come to train are typically graduates of the top half of their Dental School class. Their treatment of patients is overseen and mentored by the Dental Services Faculty. The Residency is a 12 month program; consequently a new group of Residents is introduced each year. The Faculty Practice is staffed by full-time Dental Services faculty who have many years of dental practice experience. The Faculty Practice allows patients of the Camino De Salud clinic to continue their dental care with the familiarity of a traditional private practice.

Dental Faculty, Residents and Hygienists, provide dental services in the Camino De Salud Clinic. Preventive, reconstructive, restorative and emergency dental care are available.

The University of New Mexico is a member of the National Health Service Corps. If you need financial assistance with your patient care, information is available at the front desks of the dental clinics.

Dental Hygiene

Novitski Hall Student Clinic

The Division of Dental Hygiene offers a full range of preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services. Dental hygiene students are supervised by licensed dental hygiene faculty. Fees are greatly reduced from private offices and clinics and payment is due at time of service. Medicaid insurance accepted.

Appointment days and times vary in spring and fall semester schedules. Appointments generally run 3 hours long and additional appointments may be needed to complete therapy.

Ambulatory Surgical Center

UNM Dental Services ASC is a state-licensed surgical center, not a traditional Dental office. Staffed by an experienced team of dental and nursing professionals, the ASC is able to provide, in a one appointment procedure day, the healthy mouth that would usually take multiple dental appointments.  Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced dental and medical equipment, including digital x-rays, intraoral cameras, electronic charting and full operation rooms. Our Patients include anyone who will benefit from dental care under general anesthesia.

  • Pediatric patients, often difficult to treat in a traditional dental office, can be treated quickly and safely.
  • Patients who have extensive dental care needs that would require multiple trips to a traditional dental office can be treated in just one or two visits.
  • Patients who experience fear or anxiety when receiving dental care can sleep peacefully and safely for the duration of their treatment.
