Jill Klar was appointed Chief Executive Officer of UNM Medical Group (UNMMG) in late June 2017.

Klar joined UNM Health Sciences Center in January 2016 as Chief Operating Officer of UNMMG assuming leadership over revenue cycle operations, information technology, human resources, communications, marketing, facilities and telehealth services.  She joined UNM from ABQ Health Partners where she served as Chief Operating Officer since 2011. During her tenure there, she helped transform an unprofitable medical group, originally part of an integrated healthcare system, into a profitable, independent, physician owned and led multi-specialty practice. Most notably, Klar supported the merger between ABQ Health Partners and DaVita Healthcare Partners, which led reengineering efforts to foster a new care model called Total Care, also known as, coordinated and preventive care.

Klar has over 20 years of leadership experience in a variety of healthcare settings, including interim COO for the Lovelace Health Plan and various positions within the Lovelace Health System, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico and Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque.

A Lobo and New Mexican at heart, Klar earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico, has served on the UNM Lobo Club Board and is an American Heart Association Circle of Red founder. Most recently, Jill served as the 2016 Heart Ball Chair.  Additionally, she is a 2014 ABQ Business First Woman of Influence honoree and currently serves as a Bizwomen Mentor.

Dr. Robert Fritch, Chief Medical Officer & Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations, (505) 925-4271

Dr. Robert Fritch serves as Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations and Medical Director for the UNM Medical Group (UNMMG). He also serves as Associate Executive Medical Director Ambulatory Outpatient Primary Care Medicine for the UNM Hospitals.

Dr. Fritch is Board Certified in Family Practice, Addiction Medicine, holds a Certificate of Additional Qualification in Occupational Medicine and obtained a Masters of Medical Management from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Dr. Fritch received his DO degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and did his Family Practice Residency in Detroit, Michigan. A native of Southern Colorado, he returned to the southwest after residency to work in northern New Mexico until he joined UNM Health Sciences in 2005.

Marjorie Goldstein, Vice President Finance & CFO, (505) 272-3558

Marjorie Goldstein serves as the Vice President Finance & CFO for the UNM Medical Group (UNMMG). Most notably, she successfully led the effort to finance Sandoval County's first teaching hospital, UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center.

Goldstein oversees all financial planning and analysis activities related to new UNMMG business endeavors. With an accounting degree from Pennsylvania State University and a public accounting background, Goldstein has managed many aspects of accounting and finance in other NM healthcare organizations such as UNM Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, St. Vincent Hospital and Sun Healthcare Group.

Goldstein serves on the board of directors for NM Cancer Care Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing New Mexico cancer patients with access to the latest experimental treatments available and information developed through cancer research studies. Previously, Goldstein served on the UNM Conflict of Interest Committee, Jewish Federation of Greater Albuquerque Allocation Committee, YWCA of Middle Rio Grande Finance Committee and Congregation Keshet Shalom's Executive Committee in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Goldstein is in a committed relationship and has two daughters, Sarah and Rachel. She plays tennis, participates in a book and movie group, is a sports enthusiast and enjoys cooking when time permits.

Erica Hamilton, Vice President Strategic Development, (505) 272-1059

Erica Hamilton serves as the Vice President of Strategic Development for the UNM Medical Group (UNMMG). Hamilton leads strategic business planning, hospital management/affiliation contracting, facilitates financial assessment on mergers and acquisitions and project management for strategic initiatives working cohesively with the UNM Health System overall. Hamilton has also built a strategy management team that focuses on overall health system network development.

Notably, Hamilton has led efforts creating and nurturing affiliation relationships with rural hospitals and provider groups to create a statewide network and helped build a pipeline for tertiary care. Hamilton has also actively supported efforts to disseminated behavioral health issue information, which led to a task force with the Mayor of Albuquerque to expand resources for intermediate care.

Hamilton has worked for other healthcare organizations including Sandoval Regional Medical Center, UNM Hospitals, Quality New Mexico and Lovelace Healthcare System and Lovelace Medical Center.

Hamilton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland, along with a Master’s degree in Nursing & Master’s degree in Business Administration, both with honors, from the University of Tampa.

Dick Weeda, Information & Technology Architect, (505) 272-3252

Dick Weeda serves as the Director of IT for the UNM Medical Group (UNMMG) and has been with UNMMG for over 26 years. Weeda is responsible for the overall management oversight of information technology used by the medical group's billing operations. Areas of coverage include servers, desktop and laptop computers and laser and multi-function printers used by UNMMG staff. It includes the software and security placed on computers, laptops, handheld devices and USB/thumb drives. IT also supports the GE/IDX application software, all ancillary software used in UNMMG billing operations, and the UNMMG information system, internet pages and intranet.

In his spare time, Weeda enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, daughters, and granddaughter.

Purvi Mody, UNM Health System Chief Compliance and Internal Audit Officer, (505) 272-8761

Purvi Mody serves as the Chief Compliance and Internal Audit Officer for UNM Health System which includes UNM Medical Group (UNMMG), UNM Hospital, and UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center. Mody provides leadership and oversight over all compliance initiatives and efforts to ensure the hospitals and medical group comply with, pertinent laws, regulations and policies. Mody works closely with all leadership, physician and operation teams to foster and promote ethical behaviors and to provide the tools, guidance, and oversight needed to adhere to all compliance requirements.

Previously, Mody worked in various financial reporting, accounting and auditing positions at Moss Adams and Grant Thornton. Mody is certified as a Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Mody earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Masters in Accounting from the University of New Mexico.

Garry Feld, Executive Director, Clinical Operations, (505) 272-1578

Garry Feld was named the Executive Director of Clinical Operations with the UNM Medical Group (UNMMG) in June 2016. He is responsible for providing executive level leadership to UNMMG’s 11 clinics and oversees all efforts as it relates to UNMMG in-clinic processes, strategy and business development.

Feld has over 20 years of healthcare operations and leadership experience overseeing various departments and programs. Previously, he was the Director of Quality Outcomes for the UNM Hospital. Feld also had a distinguished military career with the Air Force where he served in a number of capacities leading, advising and consulting many military healthcare clinic operations and entities. Notably, Feld was awarded a Bronze Star Medal during his tenure as COO of the only U.S. trauma hospital in Afghanistan in 2009. 

Feld earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Iowa, a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of Maryland University College and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Sandy Ross, Executive Director, Human Resources, (505) 272-3222

Sandy Ross, MBA, was named the Executive Director of Human Resources (HR) for the UNM Medical Group (UNMMG) in July 2016. Previously, Ross worked in leadership capacities orchestrating daily HR functions for Ernest Health, UNM, ABQ Health Partners and UNM Hospitals.

Ross has been delivering effective and innovative HR solutions to organizations since the mid 1980’s. Whether developing cutting edge policies to address the changing workforce, delivering innovative training via satellite broadcasts, developing teams and governance, or leading diversity change management in business, Ross has partnered with executive leaders to align business strategy and metrics with HR solutions.

Additionally, Ross has been active on various boards and advisory councils with professional and civic organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives, Society of Human Resources Management, Institute of Management Accountants, American Society of Training and Development, American Hospital Association, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and the Animal Humane Society.

Ross has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of New Mexico and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

In her spare time, Ross loves helping her husband restore a 1978 Land Cruiser!

Rebecca Ruddell, Executive Director, Revenue Cycle Management, (505) 272-9097

Rebecca Ruddell was named the Executive Director of Revenue Cycle for UNM Medical Group (UNMMG) in late June 2016. Ruddell is responsible for reviewing and analyzing metrics, performance indicators, billing guidelines, including state and federal regulations, as it relates to revenue operations for UNMMG and has oversight over the charge entry, coding, and denials departments.

Previously, Ruddell worked at ABQ Health Partners, a division of DaVita Healthcare Partners, for over six years as the Director of Revenue Cycle, among other roles in the business office including Manager of Revenue Cycle and Contract & Claims Administrator. Additionally, she has held other various health care positions in this community with the Lovelace Health Plan and Presbyterian Health Plan.

Ruddell has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

Ruddell is from Albuquerque and is married with two boys, Pearce and Hade.

Portrait of Mark Padilla

Mark Padilla, Executive Director, IT and Center for Telehealth, (505) 272-3124

Mark Padilla was promoted to the Executive Director of IT and Center for Telehealth for UNM Medical Group (UNMMG) in early August 2016.

Padilla will provide leadership and oversight in the development of UNMMG’s information technology programs, systems and infrastructure and will work closely with operations on strategic planning and project management initiatives. Particularly, he will work collaboratively with UNM Hospitals, UNM Health Sciences Center and UNM Health System IT departments to ensure alignment HSC-wide.

Additionally, Padilla currently oversees the Center for Telehealth (CfTH), where he has been since he joined UNMMG in May 2016.  He has been instrumental in a short time working closely with the CfTH Team to develop the vision and full structure necessary to expand telehealth capabilities across the institution.

Padilla has over 25 years of experience in health care administration.  Previously, Padilla worked at Amerigroup Community Care of New Mexico as Vice-President of Business Development/Government Relations and was certified in healthcare compliance.

Padilla is a graduate of Leadership New Mexico (2013) and served as the President of the New Mexico Association of Health Plans for three consecutive terms.  He is a committed New Mexico leader and always looking for innovative solutions to improve the healthcare challenges facing this industry. Padilla also has a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership.

Carly Newlands was named the Communications and Marketing Manager for the University of New Mexico Medical Group (UNMMG) in July 2016.  

Newlands has over six years of managing corporate communications, media relations, marketing, advertising, social media, events and community relations experience. Previously, Newlands was the Communications Manager for ABQ Health Partners. Additionally, Newlands worked for the UNM Foundation in the Lobo Club as the Director of Development for the athletics department.

Newlands earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with an emphasis in Business from the University of Colorado and Masters in Sports Administration from Northern Illinois University.

Newlands currently serves on the American Lung Association Board and is a part of the American Heart Association Heart Ball Executive committee. In her spare time, Newlands is heavily active in the Crossfit community and a huge Denver Broncos fan..
